The BYU writing camps are geared toward young people going into grades 3 to 12 who have enthusiasm for writing. The BYU writing camps encourage that enthusiasm and help young writers with their talents.
No way! The BYU writing camps provide a fun atmosphere where young writers can learn together. Young writers will explore several writing genres, meet guest authors, and stretch their writing skills beyond the regular school curriculum.
Young writers will be with their particular camps and teachers during camp hours. Each camp will have a main classroom for most of the day. However, we’ll be moving to other spots on the campus for guest speakers and writing time outside. We’ll notify parents of the room numbers and buildings once they’re assigned at the beginning of June.
Most camps begin at 9:30 a.m. each day and end at 12:30 p.m. Some of our camps are longer. On Friday of each camp, the young writers invite family and friends to a celebratory presentation of their works from camp.
To maximize your young writer's learning time, we ask that you do not stay in the classroom while camp is running. There will be an opportunity for you to visit on the last day for our celebratory presentation of the works from camp.
